Google's View on CSS Image Replacement

    Hi guys,

I seemed to have blitzed the forum with questions recently, so sorry! I was wondering what everyone's views were on image replacement using CSS?

I have been reading and it appears a grey area, that personally I feel WILL get your website penalised. Matt Cutts et al seem to make out you have to make it very clear it is not spam, but how do you define it.

For example if I have a flashy image logo saying "Car Insurance" and the replacement text is a text link saying car insurance and a <h1> tag saying car insurance, then have the same for house insurance, pet insurance etc, to the SE's that will look like spam surely?

It seems like the algorithms don't like image replacement full stop...what is everyone else's experience, testing or views on this?

    Best regards,

    Mischa

I personally don't think it will, especially if you keep the content theme realated to your whole site. If you would put there spammy unrelated words then yes. Don't worry about it. Do what you are doing!

That seems fine. I think where people are going to get in trouble is by putting stuff waaay of the page to spam the SEs

google will not see image, whatever image, no matter from html or css. It only see alt="xxx" as the image content
