So as you know google has been axing thousands of advertisers for affiliate marketing. Siting poor user experience, bridge pages, bla bla. So now there are hundreds of niches that marketers are unable to target/will have to change their pages which equals lower conversion rates. For example, one product that made a good profit was for yeast infections, and I received thousands of clicks from Ezine, now articles that used to bring me tons of traffic, have ads like this. http://ezinearticles.com/?Natural-Y...ions-With-These-5-Natural-Remedies&id=3301646 There used to be a good number of ads on this page about yeast infections, people selling products that could help yeast infections, now there are ads for insomnia, Eczema, things that relate nothing to the topic at hand. So as google goes through this transition, all for "user experience" They have created what they intended to cure "poor" user experience........... I used to loose sleep at night worrying about google, the second I stopped carrying, and focused on something else is when I realized I don't need google, and am better off without them.
I totally agree, Google can be a handful sometimes and they don't understand that what they're trying to create for their customers can backfire. I'm going to go bing.
You know, I felt the same way when one of my main earners got dropped from Google. I really had to soul-search and decided that I never want to be dependent on Google, or any one source of traffic again.
If people have got yeast infections and eczema they should be talking to a doctor or a pharmacist, not clicking on ads for dodgy ebooks or 'herbal remedies' for their condition. You can't pass this off as if you're doing some good for the community that Google is preventing when you're selling ropey stuff that nobody needs, and Google are clamping down because people hate those hard-sell, ill-informed affiliate sales pages
If people hate these affiliate pages so much, why am I able to convert the traffic at 1/15. Everyone says "crappy" ebooks, but after researching the products, which I do, these guides do provide information that is beneficial to the conditions that they talk about. You say people should be seeing their doctors, I get emails from my visitors talking about doctors only prescribing drugs, that are costly and dont always work. These guide do help. If you're a dis honest affiliate, then I agree that making these pages promoting products, then by all means google should boot you, but if you are providing a service, being honest, then ...... But like I said, screw google.
I guess there's no right answer, however, quality content & user experience should be a high priority, not just focusing on money...people will revisit your site if the content is there and it's usefull...
Their "user experience" sucks for us, the affiliate marketers, but it gives the people who are actually searching for stuff what they want. Google wants their results to be completely relevant to the search phrase, and it usually is. They have to keep the junk out. If you really want to use adwords, don't go against the grain.. Figure out what the big G wants and give it to them. Or use Yahoo.
