Google's Street View hits Roadblock in India

Discussion in 'Google' started by anandsoft, Jun 23, 2011.

Google has been surveying streets in Bangalore, India for the past several weeks for its Street View program. However, Google was asked to halt its program by the Police Commissioner for want of proper permissions from authorities.

What will be the possible security concerns with this kind of program?

In India the only thing one is allowed to do without permission is "Corruption" all others require permission from "authority"

Security must be one of the biggest concerns as India is badly affected by terrorism.. Privacy for another..
And Indian officials gullibility for technological advancement is the biggest one..

India seems to focus on this thing so much! It may cause some scunner from India if Google insists doing so! Everyone need some privacy, right?

    Now DMCA? Really?
You know that DMCA is a US act and only applicable in US and to some extends in Europe, thanks to butt licking European Union's EUCD, right?

Rest of the world can give a damn about DMCA...

Lot of countries are part of DMCA? You know the difference between being part of a law and merely recognizing it? European Union only recognizes some of the parts of DMCA.

Go read something? Is that your idea of rebuttal? How about you provide me some factual document backing up your claim, I'd love to read it..

And India has it's own copyright laws, what makes you think it doesn't? Any sovereign state is not bound to recognize and even respect any US law..
Also I would love to know what the heck DMCA has to do with Google street, why you have to bring it here, if not to intentionally derail the thread?

PS: Also, thanks for the red, nice act on your part..

I think that's what he's trying to say, inability to spell notwithstanding. I wouldn't be surprised if this xenophobic ignoramus gets plenty of negative rep for that remark.

There was always a privacy issue with Google Street view, but in this information centred era we live in, it is taking second fiddle
