Hi, Just checked Microsoft's Kumo search engine got live. (www.kumo.com) looks good so far. Please share your views. -Killol
I thought the new SE from MS was Bing .. http://www.bing.com http://www.crunchbase.com/product/bing http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/05/2...ing-moderately-outraged-about-microsoft-bing/ what's this kumo crap?
Part of Microsoft's problem is the confusion they create. Are they Kumo or Bing? Hotmail or Live? MSN or Live? I'm never sure what they're aligning themselves with.
I don't think anyone will ever beat/ rival google (at least not in this lifetime). Google is known by billions and has always been the # 1 search engine in the universe. So Kumino or Bing, whatever it is, go back in the hole that you came from because your a decade late.
Hi ... Bing seems a decent alternative to the other one. Heard a private investment group, in Buffalo, New York, put up mega millions to also take a shot at Big Brother. No idea about a name, but bank on short, punchy and launching in fall 2009. This group is lobbying for anti-trust suits against Big Brother, probably as a distraction. More and more competition almost always good for the little guy.
I heard of "Bing" as MS new Search site few days ago, and used it. Its nice, search was quicker then Live search. I searched "rapidshare.com portable adobe photoshop cs4", it gave me 60,000 Results. While same search on Google gave me 610,000 Results. Difference is clear. When compared the 1st 10 results, i found only 3 similarity. That show that their index files are different. We shouldn't be satisfied by what Google gives us today. We can definitely improve. I hope for at least this time, MS succeeds with its new project....and we get something new and even better than Google.
I really enjoy Google and pretty much don't use any other search engines, but then again, I used to be a diehard Yahoo fan and before that, favored HotBot... so, I suppose there's always room for innovation! I took a look at Bing and I think it's got something to offer, but I'm not sure it's going to set the world ablaze simple because I think a great deal of people are still using old operating systems/PC's... so there's that, plus you don't always want all the bells and whistles. I feel Bing was designed to attract a certain segment of searchers and cater to them. Smart move, in my book.. it's like the adage, "How does a tiger kill an elephant? One bite daily." Now, that's got me wondering, though.... if Microsoft is designing search engines then when will we see Google's first attempt at an operating system?? ;-)
What I like about Google is that it's VERY simple and user friendly, at least for search engine. If you look at Bing, it's very uncomfortable, maybe it's just because I'm used to Google(There is a reason I've browsed it more than 6,000 times in past 3months.).
Once you do a search on Kumo.com it will auto redirect the query to Bing.com !!! However, it seems fast and quite accurate
That Bing using same engine as Live, When you type a domain name it shows the first serp of the domain and all other serps are the same domain with inner pages, I thought they figure on Live it is wrong thing to show, Anyway - Fail (for now).
Bing/Live/MSN deliver the almost same search result. How different among them really? Why MS has to make a simple thing to be complex one?
Happy with the Google results I get, until something comes along to rival the same quality of search results will stick with Google.
Used Bing a bunch today, it looks too crowded, same reason why i ditched yahoo, i love google for its simplicity, its easy on the eyes, and does not have a confusing layout, or lots of contrast. I use a search engine as a proxy to find what i need to find, or go where i need to go, I dont need the proxy to look interesting.
