I thought I understood the idea behind google's related link on SERP's but it seems to not work on my site very well. For instance I have a page about surfing in costa rica that is somehow related to a page on shopping tips. Don't understand how that could be since the content isn't even close. The reason I am playing with this is that google often sends visitors to the wrong page (in my opinion) for a search phrase. For instance, if they search for Jaco (a beach party town in costa rica) they are sent to the costa rica beaches page instead of the page devoted to Jaco specifically. Since I am new I didn't know if I could post links to the specific pages so I didn't. Any suggestions or comments from the community would be greatly appreciated. Roger
Google related pages is a weird google-service. I don't think it was ever very useful - and it still isn't, IMO. I would not worry about it. Just make sure you optimize that 'jaco beach' page so that it does show up for a search on 'jaco beach'.
kh7, Thanks for the reply. Most related pages on the site seem reasonable but this one sure is strange. I think the Jaco page is pretty optimized. (beaches page isn't for Jaco) I think it is possibly because of a lack of page rank or something. Since the beginning I have had "home page" hits for tier 2 pages that were "specifically" associated with the keyphrase entered. Usually the visitor doesn't find the "link" to the tier 2 page. Hoping that as the site matures the other pages will somehow become relevant enough for SERPS.... More links...more content I guess...
