Every webmaster has notified about the change in Goolge Algorithm. Now it's interesting to see that there are top losers from e-commerce websites which nothing to do with content., So it's looking like in Google terms Content farms have much broader meaning than "low quality or copied content". So we can expect lot of changes in search results as well as the user can get filtered results. Will this have any impact on SEO?
where do you learn that only e-commerce sites got slapped but not other kind of site, specially the farms.

Websites which update content frequently are given preference in comparison to other non content updating websites. So this suggest that google loves fresh content always which is a good sign for us
I'm really trying to get to the top spot for a keyword, I was #2 and 3, but then another site which has the least activity among our similar forums was moved to #1 and I'm now #3 and 4. I don't know if this could be a result of this algorithm but I post news from other websites to discuss. Is that considered duplicating content?
Surprisingly, two of my websites have very good SERP ranking now after they implement the new algorithm
No reason to worry about duplicate content like that, it's really not what the update is about. Lots of people have been affected, but if you're really seeing devaluation because of the algorithm chances are you're moving back pages and not just 1 or 2 positions.
