Google's partying like its 1999...

I made a blog post on July 25th about my frustration with google. Basically a short paragraph follwed by a keyword repeated a few hundred times.

Today, it's in the 12th position for that keyword search. 12th out of 389,000. So with all of this worrying I do on various sites about writing natural clean content, getting links etc, a post with nothing more than keyword stuffing gets indexed right away and returns high in the SERPS. Sure, I'm inviting a penalty from them by doing it , but its on a blog I could care less about as the traffic is usually bookmark traffic anyway. The blog has only PR2 on the home page.

Granted the page probably won't stay up there long, but doesn't it seem odd that with all of the algo tweaking and changning done, something as simple as this still works? I hear from webmasters worrying about whitespace that's the same color as the backround looking like hidden text!

Next week I think I'll try stuffing the meta keywords with viagra refrences and we'll see where we get!

google is so unreliable as far as rankings and traffic go anymore. There is definitely still some magic left in on page optimization though.

I think Google still brings better search results than Yahoo and MSN... a while ago it was really hard to get higher ranking in Yahoo but now keywords stuffing seems to work pretty well...
