I agree that "toolbar PR" has no value in SEO. However, PR is a major factor in Google's algorithm. Unfortunately, Google does not show anything close to real PR on the toolbar anymore. It seems the PR that is shown on the toolbar is a red herring to foil SEOs and link buyers from knowing where the strongest sites/pages are at.

The best source of a pages value are the backlinks to the page and domain as shown in Yahoo.

As an example, I know of a PR3 site with about 50,000 great backlinks and about 1 million visitors a month. The owner of this site was complaining to me that his wife's 6 month old blog with about 100 backlinks and 50 visitors a month is a PR4 while his major, established site is a PR3.

So what site would you rather have a link on? Toolbar PR is completely useless.

 

i guess the toll of catching all text link seller is putting other website in jeopardy

 

there was a PR update yesterday.

My site www.bwdow.com has 5970 backlinks from yahoo but it has PR4.
It was PR5 before

 

Mates Tekabhi Was Earlier PR 3. but after the Recent Update, Few PR checker tells 4 and few 3.
Which Tool to use?? Which one you Prefer??

 

I noticed that PR can go up to 10... is PR3 ok?

Also, I noticed a backlink to my site where they state that the information is pulled from my site: listing my site, but my site's name is not a 'link' so you can't click on it? Is this something I can ask them to do...link to my site, or I guess as long as they reference my site there is nothing i can do.

 

How did you get your site to jump so high to PR3 so fast?

 

I really do not know as trying the same, to improve my site.

 

I believe its all about good backlinks

Is there a fixed mechanism to know when do Google Updates Page Rank?
How does a Page Rank affects to overall SEO of a site? Does it make things easy for webmaster?

My blog page rank remained same, no update in back links also

 

Yes PR3 is good. I'd snap your hand off for that right now. 9 and 10 you can sort of forget about. My target would be to get PR5/6. I would consider that a great achievement.

 

I have website with PR4 since last 2 years.. NO change in PR though the traffic and back links are increased.
How do we increase PR?
