30% agreed. PR may be not the biggest factor for you and others but for millions of SEO experts and their clients PR was actually one of the biggest factor in SEO!

@dandeedo - I wrote a post on the 4 biggest SEO discoveries this year on that. Pagerank is dead, but it was really just a means to measure your site or how effectively you had improved a client's site - you could be PR 4 and still not rank for the competitive terms you were after. The dismissal of PR is more about Google trying to distance itself from the original algorithm (based on Larry Page's thesis) - pagerank was mostly based on links, and I think they want to dissuade webmasters from focusing on links, and focusing more on their content (and of course using paid ads as a means to generate search traffic ;))

    PR still impact!
    Why?
Just because google cannot break the framework.
They just lower the weighting of this criteria.

PR hasn't been updated is a while so I wouldn't recommend using it. There are many more metrics that can be used to measure a sites authority. Check moz for details.

Has anyone heard of Trust Flow. No? Read about it and forget about PR

I dont think so because google has stopped updating PR, it can not be possible also for one month old websites or blogs.

I believe no more in PageRank. It's much much better to focus on ranking and content. That's all. I use also nofollow in all my websites external links and something I suggest for all of your websites.

If you believe no more in Page Rank why do you use "nofollow" in all your websites external links? ;-)

Until a page reaches first page in search engine rankings PR is useless. It is very strange to see a site/page with a PR6 and recieving just a couple 100 visitors per month or per day.

The ultimate reality is the best sites and pages rank high in search engines and attract a lot of visitors. This is the best indicate to judge how special the site is. You will know the effectiveness of your SEO approach when you start seeing search engine ranking shifts. This is an obvious indicator than waiting months for a number.

I didn't know this would effect individual page PR, because although my homepage is a 4 all my other pages have no rank and that includes some I have attempted to structure the urls. But I have to admit I just followed some very simple dialogue in how to do this and so am almost completely new to this.

I have tried to attached links but for some reason it won't accept them here. This is my first post is that why?

it looks like google has abandoned it's pagerank strategies because I notice that there has been no updates of PR since long time.
There are thousands of website owners dreaming to have at least PR1 to begin with, but who's going to listen to these poor webmasters.

And have you noticed lately that PR5, PR6 backlinks are sold everywhere for a price of a McMenu. I remember, a PR6 backlink costed at least $60 a couple of years ago.

Hope things will change in the months to come.
    cheers!

I've befriended many local SEO consultants and well-known bloggers in my mastermind group and they all say the same thing: Updates in Google (Panda, Penguin, Hummingbird etc) actually boost rankings for their sites when they have no spammy backlinks. They all rely on Solid content and a high PR backlink pyramid.
So let me explain: in a strong backlink pyramid there are no 100's of links going directly to the site they are trying to rank. Only 1 or 2 high PR3 or PR4 legit reputable sites. and then there are about 10-20 links linking to those. then 50-100 linking to those.
    Get it?
If You buy spammy bot backlinks on a Blackhat SEO site, this hurts your rankings in the long run. You need a good pyramid.

The quickest path to success is by modeling. Modeling the successful people. And the people having success in SEO is modeling the SEO consultants and successful bloggers

    [Q
Yes, you need more posts for that.

Getting back to the subject at hand. If you are a SERIOUS SEO specialist, you will not even TALK about page rank anymore because it died a really long time ago. When people ask for links from PR X sites, they do not know SEO and if you sell links based on PR, you are taking advantage of them. As a transparent and true professional it is important to explain what happened in the industry and when someone asks for links from PR X sites, explain what the real deal is.

I actually disagree here. The quickest path to success is not to model your business after what others did. The path to success is to come up with something new, innovative and effective, based on the information you gain after you analyze what others did. By the time you model what the SEO consultants and successful bloggers do, you already lag since they do something else.

Branding, content marketing, public relations, networking - these are far more important than any SEO strategy you would use, especially when referring to people that just start out. For instance, people try to copy the idea of "top 10 ways to" that is popular at the moment. Why do 10? People already know 10. Do 20, 30, 100. Do all that you can to stand out in the industry and all of a sudden even SEO is easier.

When there is a blind focus on building a pyramid tier based link building strategy, just one article that is REALLY REALLY good and that you share to an industry influencer on social media (Twitter mainly) and he likes it and recommends it to his audience will give you much more SEO benefit than half of that pyramid you build. Getting others to link to you on their own thanks to the QUALITY you offer is the best ranking strategy possible. No pyramids. No bought backlinks. No tier building.

Let's say you want to do SEO for a company that sells mugs. A video that you make with the team there making the mug and painting it for the holidays will bring in faster SERP increases than any pyramid you build, no matter the quality there, for a much lower price.

I any case, I deviated from the subject. Bottom line is that Google Page Rank is dead, will not come back and nobody should actually talk about it again. :)

So I am new to this site and this may not be the place to ask this but i will because i was reading this thread but why did i have to go to page 451 of this thread to find current posts? It stated out showing me a bunch of comments from 2008, is there a default setting or something so that is not the case? Thanks.

I've not played with my control panel settings in a while here or at any other VB driven site in some time, but as I recall there is probably a setting to allow you to change the order in which you view threads. I'd suggest poking around there, or googling for the answer.
