Google's Page Rank Discussion Thread

I dont know about you guys but when I view a site the first thing I look at is page rank everything on the web revolves around it. If you wanted a link and you had the choice of a pr5 or a pr0 nobody would choose that pr0 so to say the page rank is history is total rubbish

 

No Change in PR and Back links but seen some fluctuation in Ranking!!!

 

I have new blog and I want to learn how have good page rink

 

check g..gle.co.uk in my toolbar have no rank , also g..gle.ro and others from europe !

 

Does anyone still "bank" on Google's PR?

 

Google updated sitelinks and SERP changes also happened. There was some datacenter updates.

 

Personally if I had a choice of a pr0 that ranked page 1 of my keyword or a pr5 that ranked page 10 I would choose the pr0.

 

Correct, but also it would be possible that the PR5 site did rank only by having that keyword mentioned somewhere in the body and the PR0 was actually promoted for that keyword.
What I am saying is this: many times when you see low PR site outranking the higher PR site it does not automatically mean they are both in the same niche at all. I have seen many strong general niche blogs ranking high for just anything they have posted about.

 

What you are missing is what are your visiors looking at? The visitors are looking at if they found you or not and if you have what they are looking for? This is exactly why Google is telling people to stop looking at PR. Sure I agree it is a guage for webmaster but merely it is an imaginary figure that makes you feel you have accomplished something. I myself concentrate on stats and visitors. I think PR is nice to look at and If I gain in Pr I look at it and say oh cool. But surely this is not what I concentrate and target my SEO work on. I look at diversified links so that I am getting a variety of link types. I am starting to optimise for Twitter to be prepared for the coming months as it get's integrated into live serps. and of course daily fresh content. This is how I suceed. I will admit that a few years back I used to concentrate on pr and nt contenet and what it got me was I sold a few links now and then, they were easy to sell. Well having traffic and making a living off from websites is a different story. If you want to suceed you need to get away from PR and onto more importtant things like contenet and diversified marketing of your site.

I was just wondering yesterday why some people would want to know what people like Ashton Kutcher did a minute ago and then 5 min later and minute after that all day long? how weird is that? don't they all have own lives?
I mean who has time to seat in front of the PC or iphone and watch others twitterlives?
makes me wonder, why would I even stop for a sec at twitter related serps when looking for real info?

There are many things sometimes that out of our control and anyone could say, i dont really understand the real nature of google...

 

Well its a search engine that indexed and saves people's websites logs and allows people to search for it.

 

I too have seen the same things. I have seen this in the case of strong blogs that are being updated regularly.

When did you see that Page Rank change ? Why I cannot see the changes? Is PR is really updated ?

My site was PR6 and now is PR0...
