good question! conversely, with all of you who have seen your PR drop recently, have you seen your traffic decrease?

hmm i think that even if we dont see our pr for new site
pr is there. we will realize only that we have it when google updates list for our eyes.

so as you getting more and more visitors probably your rank is getting higher :D

It is funny how many webmasters and SEO professionals tie their ego to the toolbar page rank.
Yes, PR is still at the heart of Google's ranking system, it is unspeakably important. But toolbar page rank is nothing more then amusement for dummies:)
    No offense

My making money online site has gone up to a PR4, while my other sites missed the cut because they are new. When I was just starting out, I thought PR was everything, but I quickly realized that it doesn't amount to much. PR doesn't make me any money....unless you're selling links....which Google punishes.

The stat that i'm much more interested in is how many unique visitors are coming to my sites. Without visitors it's very difficult to make money....even if your site has a high PR ranking.

well, this is partially true, pr makes a big difference if you are selling your website

and pr makes a difference to many advertisers, so it does make a difference in how much money you can make

Is it just me or are page ranks a lot easier to obtain now a days? I have two PR 3 websites that I have only had for about 3-4 months, and I hardly did anything. All I did was submit my site to a couple of directories and buy some text links ;)

Its you. Its seemed harder nowaday. I have about 18 active websites and about 6 months ago you didn't have to worry about penalization too much I dont think. Now you sell links or do sponsored posts and it is very common to go to PR 0. I think in general its harder to get a good PR now even if you don't do that.

Concentrate on your link building campaigns a little harder. Only then will you see PR coming your way in the PR updates ahead.

swollenpickles.com dropped from 4 to 2, so I was kind of disappointed with that.

but back to my site.. I mean it was dropped from pr2 to pr0 and I was even nofollowing all links there... Someone told me though that I was accepting spam trackbacks and it might have caused my pr to drop... Do you think thats the cause?

The rules seem to have changed. Backlinks alone don't get you PR anymore (a good PR at least). Google is sort of making PR what it was originally supposed to mean. Quality Assurance, and the quality of your site content and it's popularity seems to gain weight in their metrics a lot nowadays.
