Google's letter saying my site is against TOS

    Hello,

Recently I've received a mail from google saying that my site has problems with the TOS, but the only mention about the error is that none should change the ads codes (I have never changed any code, this is why I am surprised).

I'd like some review for my site, in the email is said that I have three days to fix this.

Three specific points in TOS called me attention.

    - Sites showing Google ads may not contain pop-ups or pop-unders that interfere with site navigation, change user preferences, or initiate downloads.
    - No Google ad may be placed on any non-content-based pages.
    - No Google ad may be placed on pages published specifically for the purpose of showing ads, whether or not the page content is relevant.

The popup in my site is just one (placed by my free host server) and I think is not interfiring with site navigation, is it?

And the right hand frame in my is violating the second and third rules?

    My site is www.cursinho.hpg.com.br.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry,

I would have to agree with google on this one... your free host is really trying to be as annoying as possible throwing in pop-up ads.

I looked at the site using firefox and blocked 6 popup windows automatically... this would be excessive and interferring with navigation.

My advice is look for a different free host... perhaps you could even look at building your site using blogger.com? (and make the site a blog type?)... Sorry, but I dont speak portugese so wasn't able to determine what the site was about and whether or not it would look ok in blog format.

Changing host is a very difficult thing to do, because 80% of my traffic is google's organic, and changing the address will diminish my traffic.
But, anyway, I allready have a new paid host and all content of this website is there... I am trying to move the traffic to the new site, but I succeed just with 15% of the traffic... Any clues?

Leandar, you said to me to put a right side scroll down bar, but my right frame allready have a scroll bar, a vertical scroll bar. What are you talking about??

    Thanks for the replies.

SIX pop-ups. You're just taking the piss. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have a pop-up blocker.

I would consider switching to paid hosting before even thinking AdSense.
You must be prepared to spend before earning. If I were Google :)rolleyes: ) I would demand quality on websites that are applying for ads placement.. Losing Google links can be hurting but your free host does not guarantee you've got to keep your account with them for ever. Better switch hosting now than in a few years time when things have evolved more on your site.

Is there any way you can forward your existing traffic onto your new host? (301 redirect?)

Or to leave a message to tell people that you have a new website and to go there instead?

(obviously would have to remove the ads from the freehost one, but hopefully it would get you some of the traffic)

    Hello Gancean,

I've made some research on internet about the content on the email I've received.

"Publishers are not permitted to alter the behavior or targeting of Google ads. This includes implementing the AdSense ad code in a "floating box script," or altering the ad-targeting using hidden keywords or IFRAMEs"

In other forum an user received the same email and his problem was ads inside a Layer in his web page. The same as my page.
I took it out of the layer and sent an email to adsense support asking if was this. If I do not receive some answer in three days (my dead line), I will do the redirect thing and hope that my free host don't argue about this (this is against their TOS).

Why everybody is saying that my site has 6 popups? I can see just one big popup when typing my address. Maybe is because you are using blocker, when the host launch each frame, it confirms if you allready have its popup loaded, if you don't have it, the server loads the popup again. Anyway, is just one popup at all.

    Thanks again
