This is almost a month old and I missed it when they posted it:
    http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/06/quality-links-to-your-site.html

"Mass submissions, which are sometimes offered as a quick work-around SEO method, are mostly useless and not likely to serve your purposes."

I completely missed that one as well. +1 for sharing. Google definitely favors high quality directories. Further proves point of content is king.

Its just common sense, its not meant to be read by the ignorant though, if anyone needs common sense to be pointed out to them regularly then theres something wrong.

It means that they realise how they literally have to spell things out for some people rather than those people just knowing good from bad themselves.

But it will mostly be ignored, the irony, that those that need to read that simply wont.

Let me put it this way.

Even if they read, they still won't understand what that means thus will never follow G. advise.

OP, don't mind the know it alls. I never get a chance to read Google's blog. So thanks for sharing, especially when the post specifically talks about directories. I'm sure that's why you posted this, not because it's breaking news. Lol @ these clowns.

It's common sense. Mass submission, and submitting to crap directories in general is not and will never help you. More importantly, backlink building should not be priority anyway. Focus on content, and participate in sites within your niche and you'll get the backlinks you need.

Yeap. Qarri was submitted to AMRAY Web Directory using our Express Inclusion
($6.00 value) FREE offer that has only 1 condition: Submitter MUST Read and Follow
    our Submission Guidelines.
Mr. M wouldn’t oblige that one simple request and keep
in his packet what others are paying in cash.

Owner have managed to neglect sign next to Description field that says:
Min: 100 characters, Max: 200 characters (probably used submission tool)
    and submitted 50 characters description.

As to Qarri directory, last time I check, it was empty.

    Keep in my "packet". Wow

Oh here we go, the Clowns are teaming up. Typical.

Not quite empty sport. Mr. PR 4 after 10+ years. Nice

    Suggestion: Get a life kid.

Edit: I've been reading your posts. Your posts have absolutely no value to anyone. All you do is bash, and give negative comments. DP isn't the place for your negative and cynical comments. Create your own forum and post your bullshit back and forth to yourself.

Also I was interested in your hosting until you declined my site for no good reason.

We'll I just keep that money in my "packet".
