Article Marketing isn't dead, but poorly spun crappy content is definitely not as useful. Look at the bright side.

With all the crappy duplicate article backlinks out there being discounted, you have to do less work to get more benefit than ever before. This could be an advantage.

Article marketing is not dead . That would be a wrong inference . I agree with all the other conclusions you have reached according to the SEL report but that pertains to only linkbuilding for a higher PR or SERPs , how will that affect referral traffic ? If you have 50 good articles in 50 different article directories then you have 50 chances every second that people might read it and click on the author bio to land on your site . Also traffic cannot be created or destroyed . So whatever traffic the big fish LOST does not mean magically disappear , it only means that some other site was presented to the surfer as a higher search result than the previous (ezine/squidoo/hubpage) so the traffic is still there but it has shifted base and that is upto a good SEO to find that source and put up content and links there . What is a good SEO if analysis and strategy change is not a part of his SEO plan ? If the SEO has a rigid mindset that making pages on these fixed set of sites is called SEO then every tom dick and harry will be an SEO expert . The algo has evolved and so will a good SEO have to !

Sure the step google is taking is good for visitors and good for those website owner who work hard for their site and to create really useful and unique content. I was wonderting that....

ok, article directories are going lower....

but what if we create full original and informative content and post it on our site and then distribute it to directories.....

Our sit will be considered as original and those directories will be as duplicate even if the site is new and having no ranking while directory has higher ranking...

so in the pas days... your article on ezine was linting top on the same on your own site...
and now in these days, it may be seems like your page will rank higher than that on ezine... IT must be good to see....
