Google's crawl rate - Slow, Normal and Fast

    Hi,

Does any one has an idea as to what is slow, normal and fast in terms of number of days? You can see this option in Google Webmaster tools where you can set the crawl rate for your website. One of my website was last crawled on 18 Feb 08 and speed is set to Normal. Can't change it to faster speed because the option is disabled. It's been more than a month but Google hasn't crawled my website so does any one knows about it?

    Thanks

Your website crawl rate is slow as google has not crawled it in a month. If you build enough quality backlinks google will crawl your site more regularly.

You can always try to create an updated sitemap and submit that to Google.

I think the idea is that if you have LOT'S of changing content google may need to do a faster crawl to keep up. As I understand incoming links work into the equation somewhat, telling google that it might be more important to do a better job of "keeping up" with your new content.

The faster option is available if your site update often (adding new content)

Agree with this. I have faster option enabled and pages get indexed within 10-20 mins.

I updated my home page 5, 6 days ago. Will do it more frequently along with inner pages.

When I had a blog on wordpress.com, Google Webmaster Tools would allow me to change my crawl rate to "Fast". Now that I have a blog on my own domain, Google Webmaster Tools has the "Fast" option grayed out. Interesting...
