Googles back links

    This might have been asked before and I apologize if it has.

    Does pagerank and back links update indepently or together.

    How long does it take for your back links to appear in google? Does MSN have a similar back linking system to google?

    PR updates about every 3 months.
    Backlinks from a website that is crawled daily might appear in a week. Backlinks from a website that is never updated and got a low PR might appear after a month or two.

    Google PageRank belongs to google.. so I'm assuming MSN's ranking system is different because you can see that rankings on google are different on MSN sometimes.

    Backlinks are updated in regular frequencies based on your settings. If youhavee't mentioned anything in your robot.txt then it is likely to be updated along with your site indexing once in 15 days.
    This is what I have observed but PPL with much more experience in this may help ...

    Backlinks in Google you see is not the real backlinks that you really have... Google doesn't display how many backlinks you really has...

    Page rank and backlinks update together, that was I observed. Page rank update every three months as well as the backlinks but sometimes backlinks update or easily crawled daily might appear in a week or within two weeks.
    MSN algorithm is depends on the quality of content. For a while MSN live have cut this off, you could get the MSN results on HotBot... but, no longer. MSN had the best link search going, because you could do compound searches.ie, perform a search within the backlinks. Let's hope it comes back soon.

    Google backlinks update first before PR update. Backlinks are expected to update every three months but the last update of backlinks just happen after 2 months while PR upadte happen after 3 months. So I don't know now if what is the expected update of google.

    The pagerank we see updates once evert three months. However, Google uses the latest PR and backlinks to rank the results from time to time.

    different search engine use different way to gather back link and display them. that also result in different ranking in their own search results.
