* Enable text and image ads for your ad units. By opting in to different ad types on your site, you'll increase the competition in the ad auction, which can lead to additional revenue for your account over time. * Use the 300x250 Medium Rectangle. This ad format is one of our best-performing ad units, and many advertisers use it when creating rich media (image and video) campaigns. Again, you'll benefit from the increased competition for your ad space. I always thought that Large Rectangle (336 x 280) is the best? Does enabling image ads will really increase revenue? I am bringing this up because visitors can no longer click on the background. So is using a large rectangle ads advisable?
Ok I think if you have alot of traffic but just a little clicks the best solution is image ads. If you have to much clicks in ads between, below or above the articles or anything like text,(336 x 280)text ads is a good way. For me work better the 336x280 rectangle ad. Good luck.
They want you to use the 300 square because they need more publishers to push the video/image ads. I'v found on every niche I tried them on they paid horrible (most were CPM ads - Cost Per Thousand) and I usually got like 0.20/1000 views for them. I emailed GA about a year ago and had them disable CPM ads on my account, helped a little but video/image ads still have a low CTR for me - so I use 99& of the time - text! The 336 has performed the best for me, as well as the link units (they have started to perform higher lately for me)
I notice placing 336x280 at the end of the post gets very little clicks. I am changing it to half banner and see how it goes.
That's what I thought too for one of my web sites that offers downloads. But when I changed this to "text ads only leaderboard", I generate more revenue. On a high content web site the 336X280 works very well specially if you follow web site heat map for the first ad unit placement and put the next one at the end of the article. I suppose it always depends on your site content and layout.
Why not just try both and see how they work for you? As you can tell by spending any time on these forums what works great for one person may not work at all for someone else.
been using 460x60 and 160x600, i dont which one is best for my blog, but i think, i am going to try leaderboard
