Yes, they must still be filtering sites. I continue to hear weekly from Link brokers that sites in their networks are still getting hit, especially blog sites.

Those who are selling links, paid reviews, etc are being punished by getting a drop on their PR. It sucks but at the same time, if you make it public knowledge that you are selling links/reviews with clean links then you had to of known this was going to happen.

People need to stop telling people they are selling links on their sites and brokers need to start doing things a new way.

Oh, and bloggers need to take down those damn TLA, PayPerPost, etc. banners off their sites!

why should they be banned? why should we allow google to control wtf we do on the internet and how we promote our sites? paid reviews tend to bring in traffic more than PR these days anyway

Anyways -- There's no PR update at the moment

A PR penalty can happen anytime and apart from a pr update

I hope Google knows what they're doing because I have never done a paid post.. But I review make money online sites (for free).. If they looked at my blog they could think one of them are sponsored because sometimes I will write about just one site.. I would hate my page rank to drop for no reason

Are they banning paid reviews alone or paid reviews with anchor/clean links back to sites?

I think Google is pissed about people paying for reviews with links back.

Whatever the case, yes, I understand Google but I also don't agree.

People just need to figure out how to keep it more under the radar.

actually when there is a PR penalty, usually the PRs just drop without a warning, a few weeks ago when one of my blogs went from PR2 to PR0 - it showed changed in datacenters first - showed PR2 and PR0 - i was scared then because i didnt know the PR was still updating, then a day or so later it all dropped to 0

Actually, you can do anything legal that you wish on the internet. Google only "controls" their policies, algorithms, etc. It's completely up to you to ignore Google and do what you wish. On the other hand, if you wish to take advantage of what Google provides, you play by their rules. It's always your choice, and they don't control you in any way.

Yep that is why i am strict to my policies.. ex. i have not paid for any links.
plus i don't really look forward to PR.
What i really aiming for is having quality traffic that is shopping traffic.

great, my sites just got PR 0, sucks to google!
Frankly it is better to depend on real time states and see the number of actual visitors coming to ones site than depend that google will show the way to all to your site. After all, they are also in this mainly for themselves, What is really funny is that after my PR went to bottoms, i got an email tellng me how i can increase my PR if i use google's ad words. I think that is just typical of them.

Anyway, for all blog sites and all the other sites, that do not want to play by google's rules, use paid links, advertise your site like nuts and you will get traffic coming to your site.
If you want your site to have the PR, then you cannot sell links, buy links, do any reviews of any kind since the bots and google will assume that all reviews are paid ones. In short, the only people to make money with google will be google, and then just to feel good about themselves, they will send a few pennies our wau by adsense.
Is it any wonder that there are a lot of ad providers [ like adsense] who pay more for impressions than adsense does?

The irony is that by declaring this war on webmasters and paid links, google is actually doing them all a big favor.
First they went after the paid link companies, now they are after the webmasters and soon it will be the turn of the advertisers and then the **** would truly hit the fan. For those of you who have had your PR reduced, well do not delete anything if you do not want to play by googles edicts.

Anyway this is good for us and bad for google in the long run, it is surprising that Matt cutts did nto forsee this or even if he did, he must have thought that who can dulicate the PR. the nice thing about all this is that it opens the field of PR wide open. More and more paid review sites are going to start blocking out the PR totally and devise their own PR system, the whole market is going to be flooded with lots of different PR. The PPP team is already leading the pack and soon their PR is due to be unleashed on to the market. We all made a very big mistake in allowing google to have such a huge say as far as the internet and the search engines go. But that is all of the past more and more search engines are coming up every single day and likewise, with the mistake that Matt cutts has made, more and more companies are going to format their own PR.

Botton line, for those of you out here who make money by doing paid reviews and selling and buying paid links, the war of the PR is about to begin and the good news for the webmasters out there is that Yahoo, unlike google is firmly on the side of the webmasters.

And rememebr, using the rel no follow tag may be what google would want, but that is the least option that the advertisers would want. As an advertiser, I would prefer links WITHOUT the 'rel no follow' tag since i know that most of the posts with link to my site would stay on the main page for just three days or so and thenit would get pushed back. So as an advertiser, I would not purchase some links that only end up using the no follow tag, there is just no point. What is more, with new PR on the horizon and fast approaching google earth, I would very much like to see that the PR represents actual data rather then google's preferences; because that is what the PR is all about-google's.

Bottom line, as an advertiser, I would buy links from a site that I know has a high visibility, that is it has hundreds, even thousands of visitors everyday, That would be the kind of site i would want a link from.

All that google has done is open the floodgates as well as show the others that they have other choices besides google. In short, Google themselves have put an end to the dominion of their PR, that is why I said that this Matt cutts idea is the best thing for all the webmasters as we are going to have more choice from now on!

The mess was started with google categorising the sites, they opened the pandora's box and now they have started reaping the bitter fruits. By declaring war on links and the webmasters, they are bringing the end to google's rule. The dominion is bound to get over soon and one can only hope and pray that it happens sooner than later.
Like I had mentioned earlier, the floodgates are opened and new shapesn are being created, new ranks are being thought of. The big brother[google] is going to find that nothing lasts forever and that the advertising is the one that drives the content and not the other way about.
Google is heading for some really troubled times, had they started the toolbar and made everythign right back then, no one would have any problem now. But they did not do anythign much and now the internet is just too vast, it is a behemoth and what is more, every day and in every way, there are just more and more alternatives to google propping up!
The big brother, even if it does a rethink on the issue of paid links, it will be way too little. No one likes being told what to do, and the lines have been drawn. Google can start counting its money for now as that will soon start drying up. Fact of the matter is as google went after the webmasters, can you imagine what will happen if they decide to go after the advertisers, and can you imagine , if they do not?
Paid links,un paid links, links not revelant to your site and so on... the list goes on.Whatever your site may have or may not have, the war of the Ranks has just began. Soon, Big brother is going to have to eat some big fat mighty crow, but even if they do that, I for one, am just not ready to forgive them for telling me what to do! Freedom rules, and not google!
