    lol - i love reading these threads in some spare time - AH PR freezy. All that matters is SERPs. Of course if you are a link seller which I am not then PR can mean a great deal.

    PR seems to be calculated by the amount of quality links you have inbound in relation to all other sites in googles database. As the internet is growing with new sites and new links daily you need more and more links to even keep the same PR. I have seen for older sites, that PR / Links seem to banked at some stage. That is that they are given to the site as permanent.

    Now I have sites that are PR4 that are top 3 in G for very competitive keywords. I have sites that are still PR0 and rank top 5 in Google for very competitive keywords. I have seen some sites that rank top 5 in ultra competitive keywords still display PR0.

    Be it that with the Algo update placing more importance on the domain name, these high ranking PR0's are on a very nice domain for the keyword. I have sites PR6+ that rank nowhere.

    What does this tell you? ...................... PR just aren't what it used to be. Especially the current Toolbar PR ranking which is so far back in time that it becomes pretty much irrelevant.

    That's a bit shallow minded .... People legitimately buy and sell links for traffic which has nothing to do with wanting PR juice.
    If you want lots of traffic to your site you need to advertise!

    So what would you prefer ?? Being number 1 on the first page for your competitve keyword ?? Or being listed on page 98 but having a PR of 7 ???

    I know which one I would prefer. For me, SERPS is the most important. PR is basically nothing more than a little green bar that inflates ones ego.

    Stick with being 1st on Google, rather than what your PR is. SEPRs bring visitors and traffic to your site, not your PageRank.

    The PR of my home page remained static while some of the link pages showed a reduction in PR. Seems that there is definitely a shift in google's algorithm. Hope every thing will happen for the better :)

    My example in the previous post was just that people seem to be thinking that their PR is more important that their SERPS. If people want to think like that - I don't have a problem, but I believe that the SERPS of a site bring the visitors and traffic.

    Maybe I'm a bit slow here...but was there a Google PR update recently? Because if there was, none of my sites have a PR still, and most have been up for several months.
