This has and still is being talked about extensively in the Q3 PR update thread, which is where I expect this thread to end up in soon.

why should it? webmasters are not the only ones that use google. In fact they would be a very small percentage of users.

No, you have alot to learn, and it isn't a bullshit post.

PR is calculated continuously... it is the whole basis of their ranking algorithm, and the rankings change daily. Visible PageRank is only pushed to the toolbar a few times a year... but it is constantly being updated behind the scenes. This isn't guesswork or knowledge available only to some secret society... it is the way things really are and most people already know this.

I'll second that one just to help ward off the naysayers. Matt Cutts and other Google higher-ups have stated continuously that PR is the basis of their ranking algorithm, and the SERPs change daily. It really is very cut and dry.

Also, for the record, I've personally found mvandemar to be quite knowledgeable in his posts concerning SEO in general.

Looking at it works very well in determining the quality of a website, without any reference whatsoever to the links to it.

Case in point: If Shakespeare had lived today and created a brand-new website with the original version of Hamlet on it, that would indeed and immediately be a high-quality website, even before other sites began to link to it. How could you tell? — Just by looking at it, using the old "eyeball test".

This is more of a showdown than a thread, back your Top SEO win a Goldfish, do we actually have proof Matt is Matt and Adam is Adam? Just wondering, as many people on xbox live parade as people there not:)

However I do believe that PR is under great debate, watch this space;)

Agreed, but the quality of a site alone is not enough if you looking to buy a site, or advertise there. If there's no way to get to the site, its traffic will be limited, so advertising there might not be a good idea.
