This is a really interesting conversation, and I've read every word, every word in this thread in fact. However, this algo conversation, as educational as it's been, should be split into it's own thread, so that I (and everyone else) can stop getting alerts when this thread (the 1 we're waiting on to tell us the moment there is a change) updates.

I suspect strongly that PR is very difficult to calculate real time

It is simply a rumour spread around by these Google guys

These are the reasons why Google can't calculate Real PR

a)There are millions of sites (more than 12 million)

b)To calculate PR for each website by counting the backlinks then updating the PR and then again calculating the PR for each site needs lot of resources.
(It can't be done in a single day 12 million is no joke even with more servers. )

c)It needs atleast 10 days to calculate PR for all the sites and again update it and to recalculate it requires 5 more days.

We have seen through all Google updates that it takes about 15 days to propagate the PR to all servers

You do know you can change your subscription options on this thread to not get emails with every post, right...?

Again I cannot go into who I have worked for and with what arrays but, "everflux" is fancy talk for "We do it in stages". Its like the "SMP" of the old windows kernels. It did not truly multiprocess. It basically worked on several pieces of different puzzles at different times. Not all at once.

I have no doubt at any give time google is solving for part of the puzzle. The best way I can put it is thats its like painting the Golden Gate Bridge. Just because you are constantly working on it, does not mean you can paint it completely real time.

Its amazing how many people want to think google wrote a program and formula that cannot be solved and that the clusters are just happy to "keep trying"

You really should check at your domain registrar or hosting provider and fix the problem. It's not good if you are getting redirected...

What volvospeed says makes sense to me ... I just cant see how there would be sufficient processing power for real time pr updating, e.g. by the minute. And if it was possible the cost would be huge, and for what commercial benefit? It makes sense form both an economic and practical/engineering persepctive to update pr on a periodic basis, e.g. every week or two.

I also noted a comment from Ladyholdem, may be it would be a good idea to start a new thread to discuss how google processes PR and keep this one focused on what 1000s of us are also keen on knowing .... which is when someone first spots that pr is being exported to the toolbar.

This man is genius, he made this thread to get some webmasters traffic to his website in situation when pr update is delayed.

Of course he know how it all works lol... Why? That redirect can't happen accidentally :)

(OK, one more bump for this thread from me ;) )

    Respect, nice start up!

I was surprised to see this thread having valuable information for the first time. Good read Volvospeed!

I actually have my own vision on a couple of points, very controversy to what some of the experts say. For instance, I own a PR4 page with just a few backlinks, not thousands...

I am also surprised that still many people think edu and gov links have more value than any other, while Matt Cutt explained that it's not the case in his 2006 video blog.

For what it's worth... I can confirm that an internal page on one of my clients sites just dropped from a PR 4. It was intentional on my part as the page in question was sucking PR from the index page and hurting the site in the SERP's and it was just a private signup page for something so I had stopped linking to it from the homepage. First sign of a change I have seen in months so in any case something is happening. BTW- the site jumped to #2 today for it's primary target term which is a highly competitive phrase so it worked.

    Very funny, one more time.
But you're the layer. You say that mine was faked !!!!
Why ? cause you see how to fake it and play to fake it ??
The thing you fake is a picture of the report.
This picture was creating by the tool.
I do not add some key or protection against people who change the value.
I don't know how to do it. maybe I'll will add a secure key.
But this image is not to prove that a dance is started or not..
I don't want to fight against cheater for a thing like that, it was lost time. i prefer to do tool that every one could use.
Please, You grow a little bit.

Lol Michael I didn't know you were a "layer" :D

That tool sucks in my opinion, because it says my PR7 domain is fake when all other tools say it's valid including checkpagerank.net, smartpagerank.com, digpagerank.com, seologs, validrank, iwebtool, database-search and many others..

BUT few day before you say :

Then for sure you've got a problem with validity, maybe the thing that my tool see.
What was the url that you talk about ?
And if was orange no way to be sure if it was a faked or a true PR. (we just know that it was 95% of chance that it was faked)

    that easy :
    green -> Good PR (confirmed)
    red -> faked PR (confirmed)
orange -> we don't know (but mostly faked)

It was orange like 2 weeks ago. And orange means "suspicious" not "fake". It was because it wasn't cached. Now it's valid everywhere. I think your tool sucks and you should admit it.
