I think that you have to be right about the link farms and wordclouds and I can say that a wordcloud of mine went from a PR4 to a 0 in the last week and so far that is the only change!!

If they took down directories like Matt Cutts rumoured, it would be devistating to the whole link community!!

    Exactly my point.
BTW, this blog post.. I don't see any sense in it.
Page rank changed in to Web rank .. yeah that should take care of everything :p

maybe their page rank export schedule is not the same as ours. maybe they are right on their schedule and we are the ones waiting around like fools? maybe they have been working on the algo and it is just now getting finished up?

    Hello...

Please re-read his blog as evidently you didnt catch the basic meaning behind it.

here let me get this little piece for ya....

    http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/how-to-report-paid-links/

Q: Are you interested in things like affiliate links? Are you interested in hearing about directories in this report?

A: Nope, I’d be most interested in feedback like the examples that I mentioned above, or things like paid posts that might affect search engines. If you’re still unsure what sort of reports we’d like to get, that’s okay. Fortunately, the vast majority of people sending in reports are on the same wavelength and are sending in solid feedback like the examples above.

Q: Hey, as long as we’re talking about directories, can you talk about the role of directories, some of whom charge for a reviewer to evaluate them?

A: I’ll try to give a few rules of thumb to think about when looking at a directory. When considering submitting to a directory, I’d ask questions like:
    - Does the directory reject urls? If every url passes a review, the directory gets closer to just a list of links or a free-for-all link site.
    - What is the quality of urls in the directory? Suppose a site rejects 25% of submissions, but the urls that are accepted/listed are still quite low-quality or spammy. That doesn’t speak well to the quality of the directory.
    - If there is a fee, what’s the purpose of the fee? For a high-quality directory, the fee is primarily for the time/effort for someone to do a genuine evaluation of a url or site or review. Those are a few factors I’d consider. If you put on your user hat and ask “Does this seem like a high-quality directory to me?” you can usually get a pretty good sense as well, or ask a few friends for their take on a particular directory.

Now where did it say that we are doomed or whatever? It doesnt...

Paid links in short are explained in detail so i suggest you re-read :)

    thx

My Blog-post on 16th July has PR N/A. It usually takes less than 24 hrs for my posts to get indexed (last one took 8 hrs) -.

So the snap-shot is definitely before 16th July.

Going by the history of Updates --it might start anytime now within next 24 hrs.:D

Only one site that could not reached the last pagerank update but backlinks updated on that update got new pr(3) others only had backlinks updated , imo it was a semi-update.

Probably not, the snapshot is taken around 2 weeks prior to the toobar udate.

I am 99% certain one of my directories has achieved inner page rank on a few new categories, other than that I see no changes on my 50+ sites.

I remember we used to get frantic over a hotel update whenever it was close, when I used to play Habbo Hotel a few years back.

I never thought I'd see a bunch of grown men get this excited over something as obsolete as this.

I emailed google 2 weeks ago asking them if it was ok for me to use text link ads on the same page as Google Adsense, and they never responded. So i take that as a no.

They always respond within 24hrs. I think they may crack down on text link ads. Its throwing off the already wacked out PR system.

If you mean text-link-ads.com links on the same page as adsense that there's no problem ... been doing it for years.

They probably just ignored your message. They've been busy in Mountain View recalculating their algorithm to freak everyone out.
