ohhhhh please... webmaster central is a joke.. :(
It shows old outdated data and doesnt really help anything and im very close to just deleting my account as it has no purpose at all anymore much like
thier pagerank which was never accurate as it could be "bought" by buying higher PR off irrelevant sites..

Everyone should concentrate on getting thier sites higher in the ALL search engines
rather then waste time looking at a little green bar that makes false claims that this is how important i am to the web.

If you want to see your positions then try www.seodigger.com
NOTE: still in beta... but an effective tool

Text book example right thier of exploitation of the little green bar ... :D

    thx

All this from a man who apparently has over 60 directories? I thought you were in the pagerank business?

I do reviews of quality sites wishing to be included in my database...
I dont sell links or PR ;)

A web directory is a fundemantel building block of your sites backlinks
and has nothing to do with pagerank..

If the directory owner decides to include your site...(then Great)
As many times i have to (reject sites) due to poor content
and or my guidelines weren't met

    many thx

Hey malcolm1, im just curious, I agree ranking is way more important then page rank, I am just wondering why you are advertising pr in your signature?

    check it in the serps...;)

Then check to see its backlinks and recent cache date for the page you will be on...
That should tell you if its worth your time submitting too..

And know one is to say he will accept your site so make sure
that if your site meets his requirements and if not that you will be refunded
the review fee that was asked..

    thx

I have to say people that say they are not interested in PR make me laugh, Malcolm if after the update all your directories dropped to pr1 would this effect business?

Would those of us that don’t care about PR be bragging about our new PR7 if we were lucky enough to get one?

    Thanks Brian

    Well...

To be honest many off us have been to worried about PR and (PS seomoz)
i for one joined the PR crew in trying to recieve more traffic due to the little green bar. (Guilty as Charged) heheheh :p

But like robb and a few others have noted its irrelevant to us and serps is everything anymore..
Look at "Seo Link Directory" and i blanket 5 out of 10 listing with my directories...
then look at the niche versions a few off mine are within top 20 rankings so traffic was increased very much by serps
    then buy the PR chasers.

Ive been thinking off making a tool for ranking "web directories" but dont know of any coders interested or that can..
( coders and programmers interested in this contact me )

    thx

Obviously anyone who posts in this thread cares, or is at least interested, otherwise why would the thread title even attract their attention if they couldn't give a hoot?

I do care and i'm interested, not because of what my sites PR will be or because i sell links because i don't. I care way more about SERP's, my little PR3 is beating the likes of the PR7's like Matt Cutts & forums.searchenginewatch.com and others like forums.seochat.com, iwebtool.com, forums.seoroundtable.com, seoelite.com etc for the term "SEO" and i'm hovering around the top 50 in the world.

So clearly not getting higher then PR3 is fine by me if my SERP's continue to improve. I care about the out of date toolbar PR because it's a handy metric when browsing, and knowing when the update occured helps guage what a documents authority "approximately" is which is better then nothing.

    BUT IT'S NOT!!

We have to check the DCs every 20-30min.
    it's vital.

I wish google would update the damn PR already. Having a higher PR will allow me to sell more expensive links and such.
