I did a blog on GoogleGuy. Here it is. GoogleGuy is a engineer at Google and some people think he is a Matt Cutts. GoogleGuy posts at the Search Engine News Forum at the WebmasterWorld Forum and has posted some comments at ThreadWatch. A number of people are wondering if the March 23rd comments posted at Slashdot on Web pages being hijacked, where he takes a wack at Nick W, are his or not. I have read all the 24 GoogleGuy Comments at Slashdot and he is with out a doubt in my opinion the one and only. sorry guess its a slow month for me... maybe its just my disgust for the googleguy fan club. It is amazing how many people believe in the myth...
Old Welsh Guy: LOL, na Shoey was just taking a wack at me. Shoemoney: Er the myth, what myth? Fan club - not me! You don't think that GoogleGuy, whoever he/she/it/them is or are, doesn't speak for Google? I suggest you read over all the posts over again. As to where GoogleGuy is Matt Cutts or not I couldn't care less and I don't think any one else really cares. But when it come to quailty posts and knowing his stuff, GoogleGuy is the man.
I think you should continue to hang on his (googleguys) every word. Maybe someday it will pay off for you.
Shoemoney: Hang on his every word -- I dont do that, and I already noted I dont belong to his fan club. But I have read all that he has written as every educated search engine marketer should. Pay off. Now that I will agree with you. Information pays off and GoogleGuy has information on the the workings of the Google SE, er better than that he has inside information. Now I dont know where you come in as far as SEM goes. Perhaps for what you are doing the comments from a Google engineer and Google spokesperson are not relevant. But for us that desire to be in the know so we can better manage our clients accounts, cut us a bit of slack if we want to geek out in the deeper interworkings of the Google search engine.
The funniest thing I have seen for a while was last year in London at a Q&A session, when Todd (oilman) got hold of the microphone when Matt Cutts was in the chair. The look on his face was a picture. Todd really grilled him.
I dont do any professional sem. I dont claim to be a expert in this area what so ever. If what googleguy says helps you out then I think its great. I do not buy the googleguy story. I think its great how google has played it up. Can you really honestly tell me that a publicly traded company has a employee who trolls message boards and posts inside secrets? Well I guess that is what you are telling me. I am not trying to insult you bobmutch and I admire you if you can make a living at doing sem. I know I could not.
Shoemoney: GoogleGuy is a Geek but not a troll. He has only posted on 2 SEO Forums (SEW & WMW) and left comments on 3 sites that I know of (SERoundtable, ThreadWatch & Slashdot) under the handle GoogleGuy. Its not the matter of buying a story. Some one did a posted on Googles Blog and noted that they were GoogleGuy. I dont care if it is a she, he, it or many differnet people. They for sure work for Google and are very knowledgeable. They are not posting inside secrets. They are working with and interacting with the SEM community and helping us.
its funny you keep mentioning slashdot. I never even heard of GoogleGuy until Cowboy Neal told me about the phenomena. The Googleguy thing is a huge joke with the slashdot staff. You citing them as a source of his credibility just makes it more.... incredilous

Just as I have noted the other places he has posted on. Also I didnt cite slashdot as a source of his credibility. That was the Google Blog that I cited as his credibility. You know the one that is owned by Google where only Google staff posts on. 1) I am aware google has a googleguy 2) I just dont believe he posts on WMW. 3) I know the comments posted on slashdot (cited above) did not come from a google owned ip.
