I am not on the googleguy wagon... i think he is just a guy who speaks common sense most of the time. I have never seen a post by him that I thought was earth shattering. Maybe I have missed some though...

I guess he gives some hints to the internal workings of google, but yea, his posts are somewhat vague, even Nintendo could post some stuff about tripping heuristic spam detection algos... heh, altho GoogleGuy can spell much better than Nintendo.

GoogleGuy is a Google employee and is a good guy. Google is fully aware of his participation in forums.

I Came Up With Leroy For The Record I Just Want That Noted

 

The person behind the GG alias is relatively well-known in the more experienced SEO/SEM industry, and known personally to a lot of the industry pros.

Apparently his relatively formal style of posting online is pretty distinctive - though there has been perhaps at least one instance of someone using the GG alias in lieu of the regular poster.

While GG is effectively a form of Public Relations spokesperson for Google - and although I haven't met him myself - people I've spoken to say he's a genuinely good guy.

As for GG's posting or not on various sites - to be honest, it's a shame that the SE's in general are not better represented on more internet forums. A loss for them and ourselves, I should imagine.

Im not sure either, nothing I have read has conviced me that he is a google employee. However, I guess if he was then there is very tight restrictions of what he can and can't say.
