Google is moving ahead with the overthrow of Microsoft by hiring the lead Firefox coder.

Great news for Google, bad news for Microsoft.

    1) this has nothing to do with an OS
    2) we don't know why they hired him
    3) he's still working on Firefox as much as before :D

I can't help it that you can't see the light Twister, others can understand it because they have invested time in analyzing the facts.

When you read more come back and comment, please refute it if possible also.

Here it is in a nut shell for you Twister, all local files will be stored on Google, computers users will be wireless broadband users and will use Google for their CPU. You will need nothing but a dumb access device to use this worlds most powerful data center.

IBM and Google are moving to computing on demand where you do not need to own hardware and software to conduct powerful computing.

I like the point. The OS is only as good as the browser, really. Think about what it is you do all day, unless you are programmer or finance heavy, you're probably on firefox.

Just like they bought Blogger because they liked their logo, they hired this kid because of his name: Ben Goodger. He's going to be the Google mascot.

Seriously though, large corporations hire open source programmers as PR moves. Transmeta hired Linus Torvalds, but he still worked on the Linux core most of the time. I expect Goodger will be similar in his OS project.

Google also has a perk of allowing their salaried employees to work on pet projects (The most famous pet project is Orkut). However, the article stated that "At Google, Goodger will continue work on the [Firefox] browser." This is a way that Google can effectively invest in the open source community.

But I bet Google has bigger plans. Not necessarily their own branded browser (but it is the most likely option). Firefox supports extensions. I bet Goodger will first be working on Firefox extensions like an official Google/Blogger toolbar, a tie-in to desktop search, etc.

Wow, do you store files on your web hosts computers, do you have a Blogger Blog, do you have Gmail, are your SERP's on Google's computer?

Do Fortune 100 corporations store files on IBM's computers in their Data Centers?

How about others who store files at EDS and Oracle, are they stupid also Twister?
