I do not know if others have this problem but this is what I have been observing.

I analyse my weblogs every day and I see googlebot visiting my site almost every day and indexing my pages, however I do not see any updates in the google's index. Even on sitemap site, I see that bot has last visited my site a week or so earlier. Whereas I know based on log that it has visited almost on daily basis.

So what's the mystery here? Can some gurus shed some light to clear this darkness of ignorance ???

Crawling and indexing are two different things.. Just wait a little bit more.

Wht do you search for indexed pages

site:http://yourdomain.com -- > this gives you Indexed pages

link:http://yourdomain.com -- > this gives you backlinks (Backlinks are not updated often, it may take a while before you see backlinks in google, presuming your site is new)

    I used site:http://yourdomain.com
and doesn't show up the latest page updates, it shows the cache pages about 2 weeks old, But I guess they are not updating their cache pages that frequently. Also, I was wondering if the cache pages affect the index results because I change some keywords/description configuration but still i have yet to see any results from these changes.

If the pages are in the index thats fine. The cached pages take a while to update.

Of course they do. Actually those cached pages are used to judge if your page content relates with the searched phrase
