    Hey Guys,
I came across some interesting fact which I thought I should share with you guys.

    Fact1:
Google webmaster tool account does not display the correct crawling time. I could observe they update this in batch. As per my site log, googlebot last visited on 18th May 2007 but in my webmaster tool login, the displayed date is 15th May 2007.

I assume this is the visit before 18th.

    Fact2:
This actually is a question for you guys. I was of the impression that google bot spends only few minutes on a website but I was surprised to observe the following:

The bot started its hit on 18th May 2007 at 1AM
The bot continued to crawl the site through internal links.
By the time it left the site it was 9AM of 18th May 2007.

Does it really spend that long?

I have noticed that it varies on one of my pages. It almost seems like it finds something interesting on some days and just goes crazy on the page and on other days it it just does its regular thing.

Same here, but i think it's a question of how many pages your site has and how often it is updated.

fact 2: it's true. I use Wp-user online plugin and see that googlebot are still staying at my blog for a long time. And now the googlebot keep coming since I change to faster crawl rate from the google webmaster tool.

Fact1 is normal, many webmaster meet the same fact.

How can you know the googlebot what time visiting your website, and what time it left? What's the traffic stats tool you are using?

    Fact # 1 - It's true..

Fact # 2 - It totally depends on website, It consume more time on good website. The definition of good is based on multiple factors like website size, optimization, fresh content, server performance etc. Even some time multiple GoogleBots crawl the same website in a day!
