I thought this was interesting. Web Pro News has video of Google and Yahoo joining to create http://www.sitemaps.org Video Link
That's awesome to see Google & Yahoo collaborating on setting up standards like this. They also mention (in the video) a bit about standards on the way they read/process robots.txt files. It will definately be interesting to see how this plays out - and what other areas they can come to agreement on 'standards' about.
Microsoft is also involved: http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/11/15/google-yahoo-and-microsoft-agree-to-standard-sitemaps-protocol/
I think that knowing that microsoft is involved is usually bad news, but i am sure that google and yahoo wont let microsoft have too much power of the site. Rob
Nice to see Google and Yahoo playing nice with each other and allowing us to joibn the game, Now having welcome rules of thumb...
this is good news for most of us. No more headaches. Just submit your sitemap to one central location and the other search engines will crawl it!
Nice Article! Instead they tie up the "sitemaps Protocol" what if they unified The Algorithm in to One. lol
The bigger question is why are they playing nicey nice with each other and including microsoft in on the gig??? Things that make you go hmmmm....
