Here's the story: Have a mobile website on wich I'm working SEO and backlink building for about 6 months now. On November 13 the website came in Google first page for several keywords and stayed there until December 8 when my website dissapeared for about 24 hours, then came back for another 24 hours and on December 11 went to nowhere. Checked with several tools and it says that my site was penalized by Google. I left the website as it is and went out for the Christmas Hollydays. On December 27 the website came back on Google firt page without any penalty until yesterday January 12 when my site dissapeared again. What is weird is that even my competitors having the same behavior and some of my other websites have similar fluctuation but in opposite periods. Anyone noticed this Google behavior? What do you think about this? Can be Google wrong algo changes?
Who knows what algorithm Google use! But I think this is not wrong anyway. They update there PR policy frequently, may be thats why this happened. See what happen next, post update status here...
This has happened to me before in the past. I disappeared from the SERPS for about 2 weeks which was quite crippling for my business. If you have no Black Hat methods applied, I would send a resubmission request to Google and in the meantime get some more quality backlinks. I returned stronger than I was before it disappeared. I think it was just a glitch in the system and I got re-included when Google re-indexed my site.
You are not alone, many other sites suffer the same fate on this Google algorithm change. Few years ago, the internet and search results are full of scams, manipulated and many other sites overcoming those who really deserve and Google keep fighting it, unfortunately, many other sites who are already on top (which also they deserve) being affected too as Google implement new algorithm. I think it is still happening today, it's not just perfect or close to it yet.
