I was headhunted by Google a year or so ago. They did a slew of phone interviews, code samples, more phone interviews then flew me to Mountain View did a whole bunch more interviews. I ate in the huge cafeteria (Indian food from Charlie's) and met a lot of interesting folks including Dennis, the guy who does the logo illustrations and the woman in the 'Work At Google' video (who was very smart). It was surely an interesting experience, but in the end we both realized I was overqualified for the job. The good thing about the experience was it smashed the romantic idea that Google employment is some kind of Shangri La. It's actually an epicenter of unparalleled geek-tosterone, which isn't my deal. Their HR folks are great too, the interview process was actually pleasant. If one was to have gotten in the door pre-IPO (as a friend of mine did) I'd accept a job as a janitor if there were options with double digit strike price attached. Google is great. Through their products, I've become my own boss, which is really what we're all after anyways. Yahoo on the other hand... those guys are stuck up jerko's and their HR department is incredibly disorganized.
anywhere where there is an abundance of food @ work is a good place to work i would want to work at google...but not long term..
Exactly with adsense and just being a full time webmaster in general, the way i see it is i cant exist in my working world without their search engine, im a tiny little cog in their machine, i create content for their monster, we all do. We all work for google.
It could be fun but from what I know they don't get paid excessively well. Like $3000-$4000 / month which is a joke. They might have some bonuses like 10GB gmail account or something though
It wouldn't be the best job in the world believe me. But if they gave me stock options I would work for em
For the time been am making a good income at my current company but if it's a better offer i would love to
Work for Google ? Why not. But I am too young, I live outside the US and I am not experienced enough, yet
