I am not suggesting that I disagree with Page rank as I think its a good idea, but why is the most effective way of increasing traffic and PR to spread links to your site all over the place and even buy links on other websites. Shouldn't it be natural depending of the content of your site? Obviously I suppose it was devised due to webmasters spamming their websites with bundles of content and keywords and something had to be done, but is there no way of getting good se results without getting thousands of backlinks or high PR links?
Human nature causes people to try to gain an unfair advantage by buying or creating unnatural links. It is a problem that has no easy solution.
Because the strength of your each page is like a spider web. The more threads used to make it up, the more strong it is. Its simple really, the more your other pages vote for a specific page, the more that page is valuated as. I don't buy or sell links, never did, never will and most probably everyone knows that. To me, I'm old school and I completly believe in natural link building. If you have good content, people will link to you automatically and thats a fact.
If you search for this keyword in google.com.pk "Data Entry" The site you see on the top is on dominating the search for many months as I check this keyword almost everyday. This site only have about 200 backlinks. On the other hand, my site have thousands of backlinks but still this site beats it. So, I guess good search results ranking is possible without thousands of back links
Hmm, I don't know about this because by creating more links (no matter how you do it), you are making your site more popular which is really what determines PR (at least part of it with linking showing one facet of popularity)
the whole backlinks thing has really made the internet 'jump the shark.' I can envision Google releasing some new system where sites are ranked on their bounce rate, time spend, pages visited in one session and other natural things. That would make more sense. However it would also make big companies dominate everything, but I see that eventually happening, too.
Google discourages buying/selling of links. It can take some time to see the desired results even after working consistently for months. Quality content is the best thing, stick to it and do your SEO stuff efficiently and you'll hit the mark sooner or later.
I think they're already doing that. I've noticed that my sites with a high number of page views per visit seem to rank for their keywords more often than my sites with a low number of page views.
There are always people that will try to game the system, also not everyone buys links to increase ranking in google, some people buy links because of the traffic it sends them
