Google webmaster .txt code

    I want to install the google webmaster .txt code in my BANS site so that google can verify my site so where exactly would I place the code? In my header or footer .php?

    If your using the meta option, you place the code in your <head></head> tags.
    If your using the file upload, just upload the .txt file to the root of your web server.

    I really need some step-by-step instructions as to how to upload this to my server. Basically, all I need to know is how to get the code from the Google site to my server.

    Just download the file and dump it to your server together with your website files.
