Having used Google Webmaster Tools for years it has become clear that the system is not maintained to confirm to Google's constant changes to indexing algorithm's. It appears that the information contained is over 3 months old. Any suggestions for software that does not violate Google's query usage yet provides information about website error pages, incoming links, description and title tag indexing errors?

From my personal experience, and from my own webmaster tools, it can be 6 - 8 weeks between updates. I checked my google webmaster tools at the end of last week - July 9, 10 and 11 - and the last time my webmaster tools had been updated was at the end of May.

So that is at least 6 weeks since my own google webmaster tools has been updated.

From what I am seeing, the updates are getting further and further behind. Just a few months ago it seemed like my account was being updated every 2 - 4 weeks. But now, its like every 6 - 8 weeks.

I added this very problem as an idea for improvement on googles idea's for webmaster tools. It is a very commom problem because every one seems to think google should update the tools more often.

Updates seemed to slow down once the new webmaster tools started.

They should be updating the WMT data more often, but in most cases it displays an out-dated information.
However, it's still helpful though ;)

I seem to have the opposite for my page ranks and keywords.
I see a keyword being reported as ranking higher up than it currently is and then in a couple of days I catch up to it on the SERPs. It seems to often show 2 placements for keywords that are moving. The current location and the soon to be location.

The rest of the information does seem to be several weeks old though.

Google webmaster tools is a joke in that they never give you real time stats (always months behind) and i think its just for them to gather info about sites and whom owns them and not much more... If you get a penalty for whatever reason does it show up and tell you what you did wrong ? NO.. so what good is it, other then to submit your sites sitemap and thats about it...

Just my feelings... and im sure they could make it work but they wont ... :(

PS... No clue what you mean in your poll so i didnt vote

I have used webmaster tools for years too .
I see the delay of the data, but I think it is acceptable because it is not large delay .

Correct, GWT is of no use if the sitemap submission part is revoked.
You can use IBP or WebCEO for tracking your sites.

We have established that Google webmaster tools are extremely slow updating. The solution would be software that does the job of not only Google's webmaster tools, but includes Bing, Yahoo etc... Does anyone know of software that will allow a webmaster to monitor multiple sites (over 20) keyword popularity, Page Rank, errors, incoming links etc... but does not violate query usage? Google warns against using WebPosition specifically to monitor websites.

i have found the same tht it is around 6-8 weeks behind, but perhaps there is a problem with it being any more up to date, although i'd love to knwo the reason for the delay

yeah it takes a while to get updated but it's the only trustworthy source of information about your website and it's provided straight from google. that's why it is useful, besides getting updated one in a while though...

Although they don't update the information very often, the webmaster tool does tell me the crawl errors or duplicate issues of my site. So I still think it is very helpful.
