Google webmaster tools - site is and isn't indexed?

    When i log into webmaster tools, on the manage screen it shows

    sci-t.co.uk - indexed, site map
    www.sci-t.co.uk - not indexed, no site map

    obviously they are both the same site. Does it matter to page ranking results that the www.sci-t.co.uk isn't indexed? Should I resubmit the sitemap for www.sci-t.co.uk - and treat sci-t.co.uk and www.sci-t.co.uk as separate entities as far as webmaster is concerned?

    Apologies if this is a newbie question that's been asked a zillion times already...

    You don't need to treat them as separate entities. Just go to Tools > Set preferred domain. Maybe this'll solve your problem.

    It doesn`t matter. I always set mine with the www. but that`s just my preference.
