Google Webmaster Tools - Having a laugh with me?

Hey guys, well i usually check my keyword ranks daily and by my suprise i found that i was ranked 2nd for the keyword "eBooks" according to Google Webmaster Tools.

Now considering i have never even attempted to rank in the top 10,000 not even the top 100,000 or ever focused on getting high up for the keyword because of the amount of competition and difficulty it would be, it was quite hilarious to see this.

So i went and checked just in case Google was being nice to my website and to my suprise (sarcasm) i did not appear on the first page, or the second or third or fourth (think you get my picture).

What i am wondering is, why this happens? Is this Google having a little jiggle (dance) and just being a muppet.

I have found other keywords which i don't appear anywhere on the results pages for too.

So its more than just once, i am currently "supposbly" ranked 11th for "eBooks" now.

It may be due to the results from different datacenters.

Google Webmaster Tools is full of crap these days. That's why i say, major stuff happening in Google.

 

Yeah i kind of agree Scubita, there are a lot of things in Google currently which just seem like they are not bothered, or not focused on giving quality results. I too think things are changing with in Google.

I think there's a one-week delay on those webmaster results. And I agree with priyakochin - there can be big differences in the different data centers. I was just noticing that some DCs are showing an old copy of one of my pages while other DCs are showing a new copy. Each copy has totally different SERPs, too.

 

You will have different rankings in different countries.

Use the "All locations" drop down menu and you will know in which specific country (or countries) you rank 11th for "ebooks".

 

Thats not what i was trying to get at though, i should not rank 11th for eBook in any country, there is over 56 million results for "eBook" and considering i ve never focused on ranking for eBook and done no SEO for the term eBook Google is obviously inaccurate.

 

I am also facing same problem. Google webmaster tools showing me my site is ranking on 2nd position for "online advertising'" but i didn't find my site on top 200 positions. This is not happening with single keyword there are many more.........

There is no doubt that Google webmaster Tool is full of scarab. I don't what happening with this tool but it is really frustrating.................

 

well thats is hilarious but its true.. google is full of crap these days.. anything and everything should be expected from it.. as the number of people trusting is increasing second by second.. its quality of results is deteriorating mili second by mili second... its going inversely proportional whereas it should be directly proportional!!!

 

By the above mentioned details is true, Google should take an action about it. Otherwise it will lose popularity or trustfulness of users.

In the last 2 months I've gt odd results from google webmasters. The rankings for my sites don't match what I see when doing good searches. I did think it was because Google was averaging results across all countries, e.g. google.co.in, google.ca, google.com ... but this doesn't seem to explain things either.

 

Your website may have appeared briefly in the position 2 for whatever the keyword was

I must add that I have not noticed any similar errors in my webmaster account

 

I doubt that it appeared briefly unless it was under a minute, because i am guessing i would of got some traffic from being in that position. I guess google is just being stupid.
