Hi there, On my website I have a page that redirects to an affiliate link. I created a .htaccess file which redirects the page in question to my affiliate link. On Google webmaster tools, it has said that there is a page missing - and this is the page that redirects to the affiliate link. I'm just wondering, is there a way of getting rid of this error? And would it do any harm to my site ranking at the moment? I thought that by using a .htaccess redirect it wouldn't get picked up by a missing page in Google, obviously I was wrong though. Thanks for any help
The link is going off-site I'm assuming, so either way it has no SEO value. You'll see that error disappear in a few crawls, it might becoming up since the link is off-site I'm not sure.
why are you doing that .htaccess redirect? Is it because you don't want to link directly to these sites? why not just use the nofollow tag?
I think they are trying to redirect to an off-site affiliate page\landing page, or atleast thats what I assumed in my answer above.
I thought that by using .htaccess it was the best way to do a redirect, perhaps I should just use the no follow command instead... Do you think google will stop showing the error if I did that? Thanks for the help
