I agree with this point to an extent because the same thing happened to me on ocassions. When I update the content the traffic goes down. However, it could also be cincidence more than anything. There are many, many people that update everyday without seeing their traffic go down.

This all seems very strange to me - I've never had such an issue with updating my sites. I update quite a bit and even change the design (therefore different image names etc) and haven't seen this problem.

Google promotes quality original content so I can't see how updating products or changing the content would hurt unless you're going to a different subject perhaps that doesn't match your backlinks? (just guessing at that one)

Thank you. This is exactly what I am talking about. Why should anyone feel afraid to edit there site?

If I edit my site and Google doesn't like it, I can crush the entire company and lose my job.

Come on Google, I dare you to answer this question.

I hardly touch my road rage site and the google traffic is always the same. I always edit pages on my poll site apopularitycontest.com and the google hits keep going up. I just don't mess with metas, and when I do it is only to improve them making them more accurate.

I guess this is due to the fact that google has come to expect frequent updates on your site and thus crawls it more regularly than a site that is not updated for month or even years.
