Anyone know of any sites getting started that expect the release of Google wave to be huge? I just bought a couple domains like googlewavestuff.com, googlewave-fillintheblank-.com, etc....just wanted to find out if anyone was excited as me about the release or if they had a chance to check it out. You can watch the developer vid here, wave.google.com
This has always struck me as a combination of gmail, instant messaging, social networking and wiki. The litmus test will be what the guy in the street makes of it rather than what techies think. My gut feel is that it will be too confusing for the mass market, but I'll no doubt be proven wrong!
Wow, I have yet to hear about this...that is why I come here though to find out this stuff. I wonder if this is going to be as big as when they released google chrome for the first time.
When I saw the video about google wave 3-4 months ago I was equally excited as the OP!! However, I haven't really followed it up since then. It seems like the general consensus is that it will boost the social media & web 2.0 sites that are already successful. Although, When I first viewed the video my initial feeling was the exact opposite. I feel like it will give the twitters, facebooks ect.. a run for their money. That opinion also comes from my knowledge of how much google likes to compete. I dont know which affect do you guys think google wave will produce?
Wave is soooo very empty. I login, notice that i have just a couple of friends on Wave, see the blank blue page and move on to gmail. AT this pace, wave will loose more users than it gains considering invitations are rare.
I got an invite to wave and personally i don't like it! It just seems as if there are features I will never use on it :S
There was another thread about google wave and I guess I'll respond to this as well. Google Wave, if you didn't know, is still in beta but they have allowed developers to build with it already. Honestly its a great product and very useful for alot of people. The problem I have with it its that its appearance came far too late. Unless you have a huge project where you only or atleast prime communication is only online it will not be useful for most people. There are way too many communication tools available. There's already tons of messengers that just the annoyance of another possible way to message is going to be more then annoying. Soon there will be an addon for vb and other forums scripts. Seeing someone type while they type ??? Come on. Tons of peolpe will turn that feature off, and the ones that don't well some of them proably should.
I own Googlewaveadvertising.com Had some plans to develop it but it seems google wave isnt as popular as i hoped for so i guess im just gonna leave it for better times
google wave is really good. also easy to use..i like it very much..... try it that's all i have to tell about "GOOGLE WAVE"
I kind of think you'll be right. I too believe that it will be too confusing for the mass market. Things need to be really simple if you expect a lot of people to use it. That is why I think twitter is going in the wrong direction. They are adding more stuff but it may just make it too complicated. And Google wave will still be way more complicated than that.
Not sure about google wave yet - why fix it if it isnt broken? Prefer good old fashioned ways of doing things
Google wave is very big head twisting platform if you talk about collaboration, online meetings and etc. I have an google wave access and i can only invite 20 people for free but i don't want to waste it for free test. All I can say, I love how google wave works, its fast and easy, making collabs, online meetings is so much fun rather than voice collab and conventions. Who wants an invite? but i'm not giving for free (grin)
how long did it take before you received the invitations? i`m asking because i have an account a couple of days and so far just one friend to talk to, which is not enough for me
Wave won't be a hit if there isn"t a huge jump on the bandwagon. If people won't like it, i fear for it.
If you really need an invitation, I have seen people selling invitations on eBay. Not exactly sure how that works though.
