I always knew google would soon clamp down on this. the spammers have wasted it for everyone, if they had just done it so it looks more natural, google wouldnt have clamped down so hard on this
I think all these talk about Google doing something in comments is nothing and all talk. I really doubt if its true.
I always close my article from leaving comments. It's a double-edge blade but I have to do some sacrifices.
You don't need to. Comments is part of the blog itself. Blog is an interaction between the blogger and its readers. If you don't allow comments then its not a blog. It's just like an online article.
Definitely glad to read about cleaning out spam but.... If if others spam and link to a site of mine then I get penalized? Where's the logic there? That doesn't sound like Google... Then what about your competitors out there? If they want to harm you all they need to do is spam comment???
I can see that this was inevitable but the fact is that Google places importance on a whole range of factors not just link building and so providing that a site has good content, is of a reasonable age then there shouldn't be a problem. It will weed out those trashy sites that are thrown up in a day and which try to get top ranking quickly
I guess my question would be about genuinely valid comments on relevant to your industry blogs. is their any link building value in it? obviously there would be value in the sense of people going to your site.
comment spammers are getting so smart these days, as for me, i will always manually remove their links from the comments!
If you have been relying on blog commenting for SEO, then sooner or later you will see a decrease in traffic because the SEO strategy is changing now.
