Since the announcement of the Google Wallet, many have speculated that Google was in the process of developing a competitor to eBay's PayPal system.

Have anybody heard that news? how do you think about it?

Google hires the "creme de la creme" in all fields of their businesses.
It will rock as usual and it will be with more efficiency and security as well.

Well if google does open a competitive website, ofcourse they will develop something amazing. They have deep pockets and could really comeout with something good if they tried.

I am looking foward to this. I love Google, it really is a quality company and there's somethig about Pay Pal which puts me off, I think Ive joined PP over 5 times but never used it. Hope Google Wallet is cheap and easy to use

Google says that they will not be competing for the same customers as PayPal. I am forseeing that Google is going to expand their direct payment from AdSense first.

Would be great if my money could be transfered not only directly into my bankaccount for me as publisher but me partially or the full amount directly into Google's new payment service.

If it's anything like gmail then the worst case scenario is that their move makes competitors (in this case Pay Pal) improve their offerings (decrease fees).

I'm happy about it, but I'm also a little worried that people might be over reacting--what if it's like the fairly useless "Yahoo Wallet" that has existed for years?

Well I hope they offer more shipping options. I would offer a paypal payment option on my site, but they only let you have 5 shipping options and I need at least 8...

I hope they have rules that are set in stone and not just whatever they feel like that day. Paypal has ruined so many people's bank accounts. I can't wait for this alternative.

I guess it will be something like a debit card we'll get. That works in almost every country, it's fast and cheap to operate, and a good advertisement for them while you are shopping with google card for example.

google is taking over the internet. But unlike microsoft taking over OS, google's products don't suck.

Yeah, every time I use my Pay Pal debit card people always start asking me about it... it is good / free advertising. I use the Pay Pal card whenever possible because of their 1.5% cash back.
