I'm a newbie, so I apologize for asking this stupid question, but who would be better to advertise with, Google or Yahoo? At least, for a beginner, where should I start? Thanks!

google and yahoo both have their pros and cons. Yahoo will probably have a higher ROI, but will provide less volume. Google is easier to use than Yahoo, and you can get setup in minutes and learn what works in less than half the time.

I recommend Google 1st then Yahoo, but I am sure, someone will counter this opinion.,

Google is much more complicated system than Yahoo. So if you master Google, then Yahoo will be probably easier.

There's people saying Yahoo is easier and people saying Google is easier. I've used Adsense and it wasn't too hard at all. No exp w/ Yahoo tho.

adwords can seem easy because sometimes it can be a turn it on and go solution, however it can easily get out of control and unmanageable especially if you are heavy on optimization and ROI

I'd use all three, yahoo, google and msn. Why limit your traffic?

Start with Adwords - that's what I did. Once you master it, all the rest will be easy for you to move into. Afterall . . . They're all becoming more and more like Adwords every update.

Yahoo definitely has greater ROI in my experience (in fact Microsoft Adcenter seems to be even better). But I'd suggest going with Google because if you want to get decent traffic you'll need to learn to use Adwords sooner rather than later. The others have value, but you NEED Google. Plus, once you've learnt how Adwords works and learnt some optimisation tips then you'll easily be able to apply the relevant bits of these to Yahoo and Microsoft's advertising platforms.

As I mentioned above, I've experienced smaller traffic/sales through MSN Adcenter but the ROI is great! Really, really, good.

Seems fairly easy to use although the web interface has its faults. Bulk uploading/editing is quite hard work. Also Adcentre only has 5 markets to advertise in at present - which is fine unless you want to advertise internationally obviously.

I think MSN Adcentre will increase in market share - I doubt it can pose a real challenge to Google but a little competition will be good for advertisers.

Personally, if I had to choose between Yahoo and Adcenter to invest my time in, it would be Adcenter.

MSN ROI is really good, but again, not worth spending the time for 1 sale a week
