Google vs Yahoo SEO

Discussion in 'Yahoo Search Marketing' started by seono0b, Feb 1, 2009.

I have optimized nearly all aspects of one of my sites for seo, including sitemaps, relevent tags, and the whole 9 yards. I was checking my stats and saw that google bot hit 126k pages while yahoo bot hit only 190 pages. What's the deal? I have signed up for the site explorer thing and everything, is there something that I could be missing?

    Thanks in advance

    "Patience" maybe!

How long ago did you check the stats after all the work you did?

That's not true mah friend. Just do keyword search for highly competitive keywords, you will see big difference, lets take "SEO Services" for the same...

I think Yahoo more depends on keyword density than google.

Having done this for awhile, your SEO traffic from Yahoo and MSN/Live is extreamly small. Other than ego, there is no point.

Real traffic from Google is ~72%, YouTube 14%, Ask 6%, Yahoo 3% and MSN/Live 2%

Real business comes from Google. Yahoo nolonger send traffic that converts.

Therefore we only SEO for Google and don't waste our time on the others. But, YouTube is really starting to help us. Ask is also.

I've noticed similar experiences from my websites, usually Google and Youtube make the bulk of my traffic. I stopped worrying about Yahoo and MSN search engine rankings for the last few months. Yahoo PPC still brings traffic that converts though.

It seems like Yahoo site explorer is not entirely accurate sometimes. Google sees 263 external links and yahoo only sees 126. It used to be the other way around but in the last few weeks it seems like yahoo isn't picking up some of my external links.

Any idea why that is? Should I even worry about Yahoo Site Explorer? I did submit my site of course.

    Thank you. Humbly,
    Paul Siragusa

May be yahoo is yet to pick up those links. Moreover it is good that google is showing more links. After all it is google which is going to send you a rush of traffic.
