Google vs Yahoo - SEO Differences

    Hi all,

I'm wondering, what is the main difference in the SE algorithms between google and yahoo? I'm trying very hard to rank a few sites in google with the many techniques discussed on this forum along with others...but I rank horribly in google but quite good in Yahoo. My sites are not sandboxed in google, all valid sitemaps...they rank but on very high pages.

I heard yahoo looks at any and all links pointing to sites as opposed to google which I heard is very picky about inbound links (doesn't link directories/link farms, likes high quality niche related links).

    Any input would be appreciated...thanks.

The main difference is what kind of backlinks they like. Google is mainly interested in quality links from trusted websites. Yahoo on the other hand likes a high quantity of links. Yahoo gives credit for nofollow links and internal links.

Google is also more picky about filtering out certain types of spam.

I agree. backlinks are the main difference between google and yahoo. Yahoo likes lots. Google likes quality.

main difference between google and yahoo algorithm is backlink. i think so yahoo count backlinks from directory and google count backlinks from website. i am not saying that google not count backlink from directory. but google give more important for another website rather than directory.
