Actually, I've been wondering the same thing lately. The searches people do on MSN to get to my site are much more relevant than my Google traffic. Sometimes, I wonder what the hell Google is thinking with some of those searches.
When google loves you it can be pretty sweet Top 5 of 275194 Total Referrers # Hits Referrer 1 307187 0.26% http://www.google.com/search 2 103608 0.09% http://search.yahoo.com/search 3 34244 0.03% http://www.google.com/custom 4 27902 0.02% http://search.msn.com/results.aspx 5 25206 0.02% http://aolsearch.aol.com/aol/search
wow amazing anyways have you noticed that lots of times when you search on google you have to go to the cache to find what you where looking for
I pretty much always go to the cache. Especially since a lot of the pages end up having nothing to do with the description.
in my opinion, MSN if faster when it comes to indexing and updating of rank. while Google is much used by surfers.
I agree with mlagift MSN is faster with indexing and updating of rank. I have a new site and it took me a lot longer for MSN than Google to find me but once they did I went up the rankings and stayed there straight away.
When my sites are in the top 3 positions in MSN I get a lot of traffic, more than I have ever received from google. But MSN does not seem to be stable. One day all my pages are indexed, and the next day I have no indexes. Then the cycle starts all over again.
I have to agree that the results from MSN is very relevant. For example, a quick search on "Swiss Travel Guides" will give just that. Similar search on Google will give pages from Yahoo Travel or other hotel network websites which can be annoying.
Well, people tend to type in msn.com instead of search.msn.com It's just a physchological impact - google.com is much easier to remember
I was on top on msn for many popular keywords, but I was getting almost no traffic, while on google I get 10 times more even if I am on the 3rd page and like someone said before,on msn sometimes sites are top 3, sometimes they dont appear at all...and this keeps repeating.
Most people miss it. But i think there must be some study of psychological attachment of people with Search Engines. It will bring correct results.
Yes i think because ppl here in this thread are saying about Google as best and other are saying Msn is working greatly. So i assume both parties are speaking truth. Then there must be some behavioral study of searchers and their emotional attachements with Search Engines. ..
I'm getting good ranking in MSN, but not with Google. Optimized code, lots of inbound links. I think Google don't want relevent results on the first few pages, so people will click on the adwords ads.
