    hi all,

just wondered if there's anyone round here who is willing to share some analytics data from his\hers sites. what I'm interested in is the volume of traffic BING is driving to your site, as oppose to the amount of traffic GOOGLE is driving to your site. It'll be interesting to see if over the time that BING exists it started biting into google's monopoly in the search market....

if we'll have data from the US the UK india africa europe and hopefully world wide we could see if BING is actually a threat to Google or is it "just" another search engine....

PLUS, if you have any SEO knowledge about optimizing your site for BING(assuming there is a difference) i think we all will be delighted to hear about it...

    shoot :p

    today you are right.
but the fact is that bing represents a new approach to search, indexing and rankings. and i hope that if there is a hope to introduce a new player to the search play ground that will manage to take "a load" off google it is only for the best.

after all, microsoft is a monopoly and nothing good ever came out from that hole.....

i am sorry to say but i am getting my main traffic from Google only.
But i am willing to see the change.
But as this race have just begun its too early to comment these things.
No doubt Microsoft have came this time with so many great deals and the search engine is worth seeing. But in the end Google is Google
And this is not the first time that Microsoft came out with it. it always happen but seriously if Bing started working we SEO's would really have some relief Google and would have new topic to work on and may be the unanswered results of Google Microsoft answer them

New approach to search? Really? You actually believe that? Bing is simply Live w/ a small facelift, a couple tweeks, and a HUGE rebranding campaign from Microsoft to "attempt" to convince people that they actually know something about the internet and search. IMO it's all about the results and Bing, like Yahoo!, Ask, and everyone else... yields sub-standard search results compared to Google from what I've seen. I can find whatever I am looking for at Google in 1 maybe 2 searches max... I can't say the same for the others.

Microsoft is and always has been a marketing company. They were NEVER an innovator like Google, Apple, and others. They have always bought their way into markets starting with MS-DOS rather than actually coming up with and developing an original idea, thought, or product.

As soon as the buzz dies down about Bing, plan on your traffic from there drying up and receding back to the old levels you got from Live.

You know BING is MSN right? The results are the same just a new name and a few new features. I am sure you will get more traffic from BING because they are advertising it everywhere. But it will never come close to Google.

YES, i know bing is MSN.

i belive bing brings a new approach to search.
    and this is why:

google excels in hiring a bunch of brilliant (really brilliant) & expensive "search scientists" or engineers, call it whatever you like, who built for them an automated system that indexes and ranks pages (as we all know).
over the years they managed to create a very effective system which delivers very relevant results and revolutionized the internet...(don't need to go any further right? :) )

on the other hand, microsoft NEVER managed to compete with google's technological edge, and like yahoo!, AOL, Lycos Alta-Vista ASK! and all the other SE's got pushed aside.

what microsoft is very good at, is buying technology, and as oppose to google, hiring a shit load of (cheap and moderate) people that will do what google does automatically, by hand.
so they took that approach and combined it with the need's of the market.

and what came out is a search engine that functions quite differently than google, and delivers a different kind of SERPS.

    2 examples. (sorry no pic's and stuff I'm lazy :p )
suppose you want to travel abroad (ex.1), or by a new watch(ex. 2)
with google, you would be able to get to a site that offers plane tickets, or watches for sale. you would be able to open a number of sites, and choose the one that suites you most.

bing, by manually (with humans!) contacting sites, will show a SERP with links to sites, quite similar to the way google shows them, but in addition, will give you a vast market research with a price comparing system. you can also insert times and dates in which you want to go abroad and get not a site, but actual offers. in one search you can find a flight, a hotel to stay in, and you could also compare the prices of several hotels/flight companies.

this sort of information could only be obtained by "human touch"
google is, quite frankly, almost the exact opposite to bing...

i could go on and on with additional examples about news, sports, shopping, and the list goes on...but this post is just TOO FUCKING LONG. hehe :D

Bing only sends about 7% of SE traffic to one site matching what Yahoo sends. Another site is about 4.5%

Bing is still relevantly new, thus not going to be as good as Google. Google still has over 80% of all search engine users going to Google for searches.
Bing sends less than 5% traffic to my site and Google sends more that 75% of traffic to my site.
But stick with Bing, as it is still in Beta and if you look at Alexa rankings it is 80 in the world, which is quite impressive for a 3-6 month old search engine.

    Good Luck

My main traffic (90%) is from Google and the other 10% from yahoo, bing and other search engines - however I am noticing that I get better conversation rates from bing and yahoo visitors than google - not sure why though
