Feature-wise, Google+ has many things to catch up if it want to compete with Facebook. However, Google+ is getting better day by day with a solid base of users and not to mention that with the integration of other Google services such as Google Drive, Google Apps, Google Mail, Google+ is a force to be reckoned.
frelance, I do not think you should rely too heavily on one or the other. They both have a place in your social networking campaigns. Google+ is growing in popularity, but Facebook has longevity on its side. There are more people familiar with Facebook and, of course, this makes it more highly populated. However, Google+ has a cleaner, simple look. Regardless of which site you choose, you will need to interact with the community there. Make comments on relevant pages and network with businesses within your niche or similar niches.
