Google uses Adsense to promote Adsense ?

I'm a little bit puzzled about the following ads that appear a lot of times now on my blog. I made a screenshot of them. Does anyone know what that means, low payout filling ads for example or regular ads that pay nicely ?

I receive it a lot , but never tracked them to see how much they pay , or if it will be considered for google as CPA (referals) ...

yes, If I were google I would do the same.
Why not buy traffic for the $0.05 per click or so? :)
I doubt that they pay more. And surely its not counted as referalls

have you ever seen the banner? I get the 728x90 version of that ad showing up all the time on my forum. I don't know whether to ban it or not.

It's not PSA - I know because I set my ad units to roll up if there are no paying ads to display, and they pay more than those 1c MFA ads. Again, I know this through looking at my Adlogger.

So I don't see a need to filter it.

Back to the question at hand, Adsense/Adwords make a lot of money for Google, so why shouldn't they toot their horn to get some more business? And as rightinpoint said above, it's cheaper than getting new business via referrals. :)
