Hi guys, I'm not overly clued up when it comes to Google and I was wondering how often they update their index. Is it a regular thing or just whenever they feel like it?Is it the same for MSN, Yahoo and the likes? Thanks
What I know of the big three is that they are constanly updating their index, is just that it takes time for them to process all the info collected by their bots.
Try using the search function, or reading the forums. this has been discussed more times then I can count.
Google usually has a PR update every 4 months or so. Algorithm updates are more sporadic. Small ones are constantly happening while the big ones, like Big Daddy or Florida are once a year or so.
there are soo many of these google updatethreads and i always waste my time opening them thinking there really was a major update, the point is google is playing around with their cache and therefore is effecting minor serps.. but i want to see a PR update
Oh please, fess up. I just across the bay bro, in Largo, I KNOW what we'll resort to when we're bored in this town. -Michael
Google has over 100 datacenters. They are all constantly updating. A true "Google Update" that people actually care about is when the PageRank for sites changes. Sometimes people call it an update when the number of backlinks changes too, but this is less common now. Try searching for the McDar Tool.
Well that is disappointing. Perhaps, this thread could have been named differently. Perhaps this is a question that has been asked before (not that I could find one that actually gave a definitive answer). As for my post thanking garyganu?....just common courtesy to the one person at the time of posting who had actually tried to give me an answer. I think the real shame is that this is my first Google related question posted on this forum and whilst I may not have gone about it in the best way.....really....did it deserve a warning? "Running Up Post Count/Post Has No Value" Well, I couldn't care less about my post count and if thanking someone has no value....I'm in the wrong place. Apologies to all for the inconvenience.
