    Don't say I didn't tell you all :)

When this update started, I said that this will be a screwy update, but oh no, everyone's celebrating with their PR6's and PR7's - selling links at a PR that wasn't even showing on the toolbar!

Webmaster Lesson #1 - Nothing in Google is straight forward.

    Google Guideline:
"In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages. "

in google's guidelines, it is mentioned that exchanging links with related websites will increase the website's page rank.

    but they hate link directories!!!

Google doesn't like duplicate contents, but article directories like ezinearticle.com, articlecity.com has high PR.

i would recommend that you hold off any plans just yet as you will here much static concering links sells and PRs as all the datacenters are not fully finished and could bring many unseen problems. i think dust will settle in a few more days myself.

hheheheh yea i agree they do hate us but theyll get over it
    thanks

Well your home page didn't recieve anymore value(links) or not enough. The other pages must have gotten a good quantity of backlinks.

But how can that be when most of my backlinks point to my home page?

Home page links don't build as much value as the same links pointing to inside pages. It looks more natural to google if they point to the inside pages. I think if you build your pagerank on the inside pages and then use good link structure to the home page the pagerank will be transferred so all your pages are generaly the same.

But again I say, I don't have any backlinks (not that I know of) pointing to my inside pages, they are all pointing to my index page... so sorry to say but your theory is wrong.

Nope just proves my point. Your inside pages contain the content that the visitors want so anyone who is going to link to you on their own would do it to the inside pages most likely. This is my guess. I get 100s of links from webmasters on their own and hardly any link to my home page. My theory as you call it isn't wrong. It was more of a suggestion as to the cause. I can't tell you exactly what happened if I don't know all the details.

    I wasn't thinking I guess lol

All the links I noticed are directory links to your home page which will give it very little value. Probably all the dir links you have add upto that 1PR.
Like I said a link to your inside page will give you more value than to the home page.
